Top 5 Great Early-Game Weapons & Where to Find Them in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is one of the most immersive historical RPGs on the market, with a tough combat system to boot. You play as Henry and while he's come a long way since being a humble blacksmith, he's by no means a legendary knight. So making sure to have the best equipment is a crucial step in your adventure. We've ordered the items below in the order we think it's best to find them.

If you need any other early-game tips, we've got you covered in our other guides. For now, we'll focus on five great weapons in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Skalitz Axe

The early game is very much about sharp swords with pointy ends. Thankfully, for those looking for a nice axe, there's a really nice one early on. If you don’t like axes, fear not, this is still a nice early weapon that will get you through some early fights.

To get the axe, head to Troskowitz as our starting location. From here, head to the southwest border of the area and look for a farmhouse. This isn't the large buildings in the very southwest corner, but the ones just before. You'll know it's the right farmhouse as it will have a bench to the right of a large opening. From here, just head inside the building and go to the back of the area. You’ll find the Skalitz Axe laying next to a hammer on the table.

Dogwood Village Bow

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's fierce combat, gaining an advantage is crucial. Ranged weapons allow you to deal damage while avoiding enemy attacks. Crossbows and firearms deal more damage, but bows are effective early on, especially with higher strength stats.

You can pick up one of the best early-game weapons, which also happens to be a bow. Start at Troskowitz, in the southwest corner, where you'll find a path heading northwest that branches towards Tachov (the big castle).

Keep walking northeast up the road until you first see the castle on the hill, as seen in the screenshot below. Look to your right, and you should see a small dirt path that will lead to an opening. In this opening you’ll see an archery target full of arrows which you can take. Just behind the target is a small bag with the Dogwood Village Bow laying next to it.

Dagger

The next item is a nice assassination dagger. To find it, you’ll need to travel west from the Alchemist Hut at the start of the game, then west again past Bozhena’s Meadow, before arriving at the Treasure Hunters' Camp. This camp is guarded, however, so you’ll need to prepare.

Shoot them from a distance to lure each of the guards out into 1vs1 combat. If you don't have a bow, you can throw rocks or just try a 1vs3. The Hunter's might also surrender, making the fight even easier. While daggers are not the strongest weapons on their own, they do open up the option to assassinate people from behind. A useful skill for those looking to add some stealth to their gameplay.

Pro Tip: This camp is a great early source of gold, make sure to check the graves the Hunter's have dug up

The camp is also full of other useful treasures, one of which is a good Broadsword which you can use to sell as it requires high stats early. The location also features a Spade resting on a tree, another really useful tool to get early in the game.

Broadsword

A free weapon is always good, a free weapon that requires nearly no effort to acquire is even better. Better yet, it’s always really good, and not just because you get it for free.

To get the Broadsword, you’ll need to complete the Mutt quest content in the game. This quest will see you reunite with your dog. The quest will send you out on a wild dog chase to find your missing mutt. Once you eventually find him and help defend him from wolves, you’ll be in the right place. This is a fairly long quest, with a fair bit of travel, so prepare. It will, however, bring you to lots of new locations as you travel.

Pro Tip: This is a fairly long quest that will send you all over the early game and require you to do a few other side quests. We did this quest right after getting our axe and bow and had no major issues. It's also worth a mention that you will get the sword at the second encounter with the wolves, not the first.

Once you’ve dealt with the wolves, head inside their den, where you will find a nice second-hand Broadsword.

Basilard

Another great item to get early on is the Basilard. Once the world opens up to Henry, you have the chance to pick up a sword that will remain with you for some time.

Pro Tip: This last item is very much at the end of the "early" game for us, as we were over 10 hours deep by the time we acquired the Broadsword from the Mutt quest. So we recommend doing this one last and once you want to move onto the castle.

You want to head north of Troskowitz till you arrive in Tachov. Here, you’ll need to complete the quest “The Blacksmith’s Son.” Once you do so, you’ll have access to the local smithy. Now, trade with Radovan, the blacksmith and pick up Basilard, one of the best early-game weapons in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

FAQ

Are There Other Options?

Yes. These are just a selection of early weapons you can pick up. We tried to make the list in order of when you can obtain them. The Axe and Bow are two we highly recommend, however.

Are These Items Overpower?

The Skalitz Axe is very strong, being a tier 3 item at the very start of the game. That said, with how combat works in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 a good item can only get you so far.

What if my Stats are too low?

You have two options in this scenario. Hold onto them for later, or sell them for some early coin. Though, we tried to select weapons that can be used early, and also add a variety of weapon types.
