Boss Strategy
This guide focuses on the Heroic Tabetha encounter in Dustwallow Marsh but also works for the normal version.
Minis in Tabetha’s army
- Blizzard - Cold Snap
- Fire Elemental - Immolation Aura
- Firehammer - Moultin’ Metal
- Harpies - Trinket Collectors
- Ogre Mage - Frostfire Bolt
- Raptors - Motivation
- Stonehoof Tauren - Pummel
Tabetha’s Harpies mine gold, so you want to try to keep them away from gold veins. Her Firehammers deal extra damage to flying minis, so any flyers are at increased risk.
Other minis and map mechanics
There is an apprentice sitting on top of each Meeting Stone:
- Green (right stone) apprentice throws regeneration potions that heal the affected minis by 3% of their total health per second
- Red apprentice (left stone) throw bloodlust potions that give the affected minis permanent bloodlust
- Purple apprentice (middle stone) throws stealth potions that stealth affected minis until they attack
In normal, the apprentices throw potions on both Tabetha’s minis and your minis. In Heroic, they only buff Tabetha’s minis.
General strategy
Tabetha is largely an economic battle. The chests and gold veins are all far away from your base and close to Tabetha. You need to gain control of the gold to win.
The single most important unit is the Dark Iron Miner. Miner can quickly mine gold far from your base, and it can also capture unguarded Meeting Stones. Especially the right stone (regeneration) is extremely valuable, as you will struggle to defeat Tabetha’s regenerating tanks. Capturing that stone right at the start can give you the edge you need. Using a Banshee to steal regenerating tanks can also help, if you cannot get the stone at the start.
As you gain control of the Meeting Stones, it becomes easier to limit Tabetha’s access to the map. You can expect your base to take heavy damage at the start, which should be reduced to nothing as you gain control. If needed, you can let Tabetha push one side near the end so that you can focus on taking her out.
Tabetha’s attack deal area-of-effect damage, so you want to attack her from both sides.
