Assassin's Creed Shadows - How to Complete Thrown To The Dogs DLC Quest

Thrown To The Dogs is the unique pre-order DLC quest given to anyone who purchased Assassin’s Creed Shadows before it was released on March 20th.

The quest itself is available very early on as Naoe, located in the Izumi Settsu area. The quest will task you with helping out a stray dog just outside Osaka.

How to start Thrown to the Dogs

You can locate the Thrown to the Dogs quest at Tennoji Temple, situated on a hill in the northwestern part of the area. The ground is covered with purple petals. At the summit, there is a dog you can pet to initiate the quest. The dog is in pretty bad shape as you approach them.

Next, we’ll get a cutscene that reveals that the dog is owned by Ichiro and has been in a pretty major fight.

The dog will then prompt us to follow them down the hill towards a small farmhouse. However, on the way, we’ll encounter a group of Samurai Duelists searching for Ichiro’s dog.

The Duelist threatens the dog and states that he is in pursuit of a key that they need, which, it turns out, the dog probably has. We don’t really want to give him the key, so it’s time for him and his two buddies to perish.

Pro tip: If there are nearby enemies riding around or close on foot, it’s best to wait for them to leave before engaging with the Duelist. If not, they are likely to also attack, causing you to get overwhelmed.

Once those three are dealt with, it’s time to resume following the dog to the following location. The dog will then lead us to a small farm where we will meet Takako. It turns out that this is Ichiro’s sister-in-law, and to put it bluntly, she isn’t that fond of Ichiro. To make matters worse, the dog has the key to Ichiro’s inheritance, which she would like to have.

Should you Kill or Spare Takako

Next up, we get one of our first choices in the game. Neither option really matters, either way, she’ll leave, either on her own or in a body bag. Regardless, you’ll need to find the box yourself.

Ichiro’s Box Location

Next up, we have three locations to choose from to find the box. The box can spawn in any of the three. In our review, it was under the building in the crawl space, which was the second location we searched.

• Behind the shed on the north-west side of the area, away from the house. This will require you to cut down bamboo
• Under the large house on the eastern side, you’ll need to head behind the house and go into the crawl space
• Lastly, head to the house on the western side of the area and head inside. The chest is located under a hat in the corner

Thrown to the Dogs Reward

With the box in your possession, it’s time to head back to the first location. The dog will already be there, interact with the box to get your reward.

Inside the box is a letter from Ichiro, which will task you with protecting his dog, Tsuki-Maru. You will receive the following reward:

• Tsuki-Maru as a pet in your hideout
• 1,000 experience

Sadly, pets are nothing special in the hideout and act as little more than set dressing.

No, she is little more than fluff for the quest. If she runs away, it’s the same scenario as if she dies.
