How to Access Cat Island in Assassin's Creed Shadows

You heard that right. There's a Cat Island in Assassin's Creed Shadows, and it's exactly what you expect.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is a decently sized open-world game with pockets of content spread around and lots of fun things to do and explore. Much like with many open-world games, the game is also filled with its fair share of weird little secrets and easter eggs.

One such secret is the Cat Island, which we stumbled across while island hopping in our freshly acquired (see stolen) boat.

Where is Cat Island in Assassin's Creed Shadow

Cat Island can be found in the Omi region of the game. This is likely the third region that you will travel to, though you can go there sooner as this location is pretty safe. The Island is located in the middle of the massive Lake Biwa, which dominates the entire zone.

Getting to Cat Island is pretty easy. You can either swim from the coast or, if you're lucky, find a boat. The location also has a Sync Point, so you can fast travel back later. Due to its central location, Cat Island is a nice hub travel spot in the Omi region.

Cats, People, and a lot of Fish

As far as what Cat Island is about, that's really left up to you. There are people who, for the most part, seem to be there to catch and prepare fish for the cats. People live here, and there are houses, fishing boats, and buckets of dead fish. Oh, there are also a fair few cats and kittens roaming about meowing at you nonstop.

There isn't much else to do outside of walking around petting cats. There is one guy who just dropped an urn with his dad's ashes in it. You can help him out by giving him some Mon for a new vase, but that's about it. He'll say it's a shame you can't help pick his dad up, then you just stare at him, mouth open, Katana in hand, not helping.

And yeah, that's really about it. Go to Cat Island, pet some cats, get a Sync Point and have a chill time.

Yes.

Are There Enemies on Cat Island?

Weird, yes. On the northwestern side of Cat Island, you will find a group of pirates/looters looting the remains of a crashed ship. You'll get a note which adds to one of your mystery quests.

Is There a Dog Island?

Sadly not, however, you can save a nice dog in the quest Thrown to the Dog, which you can have as a pet. However, don't get too excited, as pets in Assassin's Creed Shadows are more like statues with fur.
