Arcane Mage Gearing Guide

Season 1 Arcane Mage Tier Set:

• (2) Set Bonus: Arcane blast and arcane barrage damage increased by 6%
• (4) Set Bonus: casting arcane blast or arcane barrage has a 5% chance to make your next arcane barrage deals 20% increase damage and granting us 4 charges

Tier set Thoughts and Conclusions

I think the 2p is a bit on the boring side of things, simply giving a 6% damage increase to our 2 main abilities.

However, the 4p has a really nice and interesting interaction with our gameplay and rotation; it can double dip with our new nether precision, and since barrage is our biggest source of damage in AoE, this can make Arcane Mage very strong in the AoE damage department, especially if we can line this proc up with nether precision.

This is the absolute best in slot setup for Arcane Mage that you could have combined from both M+ and raid items.

With that being said, we consider that not everyone enjoys raiding so I will make a list for alternative items you can get from M+ to be as geared as possible. Keep in mind that this is not a replacement for siming your character, as you will likely not have all these items at once, so to determine what is your next upgrade, always sim yourself.

Recommended Trinkets for Arcane Mage:

• Spymaster’s Web (by far the best arcane trinket)
• Ara-Kara Sacbrood
• Mereldar’s Toll
• Empowering Crystal of Anubkikkaj
• Treacherous Transmitter

As far as embellishment goes, I'd recommend Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension x2 for all content.

However, double Versatility embellishment (Duskthread Lining) isn’t a bad choice either.

Cyrce’s Circlet

Cyrce’s Circlet is a new ring released in Patch 11.0.7 and can be acquired by doing content on Siren Isle. It has 3 unique gem slots that you can socket a range of new gems into, these gems grant different effects when socketed in the ring.

The currently recommended gem combination is probably not the most exciting. The strongest combo for mage is probably using the triple stat increase gems:

• Stormbringer’s Runed Citrine
• Fathomdweller’s Runed Citrine
• Windsinger’s Runed Citrine

However, you can swap the Stormbringer’s Runed Citrine to use the Thunderlord’s Crackling Citrine (zap gem) for pure single target. But this still needs to be fully tested, as they might tune this more.
