While playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you will find yourself leveling as you play quite naturally. But, you may feel a bit weak, or you may want to level up a certain skill very fast to help you finish a quest. If the trainers are the obvious answer, there are a few things you could do to level up without spending all your Groschen.
How to Level Up Fast for Every Skill in Kingdom Come: Deliverance
How to Level Up Main Level Fast
Your Main Level isn’t as important as in other games. It mostly reflects your overall progression, and will not make you way stronger if you don’t put the work in other places. But it’s linked to a lot of great and insane perks, and finding ways to make it go up fast is a great idea.
One of the fastest ways I’ve come to find playing KCD2 is to simply walk with an unbearable amount of stuff in your bags. The game won’t slow you down to 0 speed, so you can walk. Every step will be a struggle, but every step will also be a nice chunk of XP towards Main level, Strength and Vitality. This is probably one of the best ways to level those three skills simultaneously.
If you need to go from one place to another to sell a lot of gear you robbed or got while killing bandits, just walk there with 900 pounds on your back. It will make you level up fast.
As an example, I personally used this technique to go from (minor spoilers ahead) the Devil’s Den to Kuttenberg with roughly 800 pounds of gear on me. While the trip was long, I went from level 14 to level 18 by just walking there, without even talking about strength and vitality.
How to Level Up Strength & Vitality Fast
Strength will level up through combat. The more Strength heavy weapons you use, the more you gain Strength. Vitality is also leveled up through combat, but will ask you to perform special combos… and it’s a bit tiring.
But what Warhorse forgot to mention in the official tooltips, is that Strength and Vitality also level up very fast if you are over encumbered. Very, very fast. Those two can be the first skills you level up to 30 pretty easily, without even trying that hard.
The trick is simple: kill a lot of bandits, get a lot of gear on your back, get over encumbered and just: walk. The best way to do this is to just walk everywhere you need to go. It will get a bit boring, but you can put anything on your forward movement key bind on your keyboard to keep moving forward and do something else on the side.
To show you that it works, these are my main stats:
As you can see, my main level, strength and vitality are a way above any other stats. This character just left Trosky and hasn’t even completed any side quest or main quest in Kuttenberg ! Trust me, just walk around, it will work.
How to Level Up Agility & Thievery Fast
Agility is linked to Stealth, pickpocketing and Agility weapons; it's not as easy to level up as Strength and Vitality. If you are doing a Stealth / Thief / Bow play through, you will get a lot of Agility naturally and won’t have to really bother about it. But if you aren’t, what is the best way to get more?
The best way to get more agility for now is to pickpocket people. If you don’t want to run the risk of the getting caught, do this:
- Wait for nighttime
- Pickpocket someone
- Wait for the time wheel to appear
- Get to the thieving mini-game, don’t greed for time
- Exit without stealing anything
- Repeat all night.
This should get you a lot of Agility. Other ways would include unarmed combat, which is also pretty good for that and will help with the Unarmed Combat skill.
For Thievery, pickpocketing enemies while leveling Agility should be enough.
How to Level Up Speech Fast
Speech is a key stat for a lot of quests and, if you want to avoid combat or manipulate people, you will need a lot of it. But we haven’t found a way to really speed up the leveling process more than just: playing the game the normal way.
If you want to optimize how much speech you get, you want to talk to every NPC, do every quest and tasks, and while speaking you need to use the skill check options, even if you fail them.
Another thing is to always haggle for better prices when you buy. The best way is to haggle for every item one by one, but if you don’t want to invest this much time, just don’t forget to haggle even when you buy multiple items, and it will be good enough.
And as for every other skill, go to a skill trainer.
How to Level Up Alchemy & Craftsmanship Fast
Those two skills are in the same category because they basically ask the same thing. We want to “Skyrim” them. What does it mean? It means trying to find an easy thing to craft, and craft it again, and again, and again, and again.
For Alchemy, this would be the Marigold Potion. Stock up a lot of reagents (they are easy to find), go to the alchemy bench and start brewing. You can speed run this by just putting all the ingredients in, not even cooking it and pouring it in a phial, it will reward you with alchemy points! You can also be a bit more diligent and do it correctly, it will slow you down but is a bit more satisfying.
For Craftsmanship, you can find ways that can feel exploitative, e.g. getting the Keen Eye perk, getting your gear repaired at a Blacksmith and then stealing the money you paid, repeating again and again, but there is another way.
Before Semine’s Wedding, help the blacksmith to get a good start on your Craftsmanship skill. Then, you want to get the Broad Axe recipe. You can do this now or later while in Kuttenberg, but the Broad Axe is key… because this is our Iron Dagger.
Once you have this recipe, buy the needed reagents from Armorers, Weaponsmiths and Blacksmiths around the country, and get to work. If you can forge 20, 30 of them, you will be very close to level 30 in Craftsmanship. After this, sell them for a nice bonus.
How to Level Up Scholarship Fast
Scholarship isn’t one of the easiest skills to level up very fast. Keep every book you can find, read them, buy books from merchants and, and go to skill trainers. There isn’t a lot about it, you can’t really “cheat” your way out of this one.
How to Level Up Stealth Fast
The best way to level up stealth is to sneak around. If you follow our tips about leveling Agility & Thievery, you will also level up stealth in the process. But if you want to focus on leveling up stealth, here are a few things you can do:
- Stealth behind bandits patrolling the wild. Just stay behind them and it will level up Stealth.
- Sneak around villages, opening doors where there are no guards.
- Sneak around bandit camps, murdering, looting,
You can find a bandit roaming the land just north-west of Troskowitz, around 9PM if you want to sneak around them.
How to Level Up Every Combat Skill Fast (Warfare, Swords, Unarmed…)
For those, there aren't a lot of new and unique tips to find: you just have to fight. Fight a lot. Everyone, everywhere, with the weapon you want to master. Warfare will go up with every fight.
If you don’t want to roam the land and just randomly fight, you want to make the best use of Combat Arena, Archery range and Fist Fight Arena. You will often find a trainer next to those, here is what you want to do:
- If you don’t want to spend a dime, just go to the arena where you want to fight. Ask for training, with real weapons, and fight. Once you’ve won, wait an hour, and repeat. This will be a slow process but will help you level up warfare, the combat skill you want, strength, vitality and agility.
- If you want to level up very fast, and pay to do so, just pay. It can cost 1.5K Groschen, but Journeyman courses will almost guarantee a full level, even past level 20 in a give skill.
Most of the time, the easiest way is to fight everyone.
How to Level Up Every Minor Skill Fast (Drinking, Hound master, Horsemanship, Survival)
The last skills aren’t as important as the first ones, and leveling them up is pretty straightforward, so we will do a quick rundown for every one of them :
- Drinking: Buy tons of alcohol, and use it often enough to stay in the “good state” but not too much so you don’t fall into the “bad state” of being drunk.
- Horsemanship: Run around on your Horse. If you want to level this faster, you’ll have to forget about fast travel and just move manually to every place.
- Survival will pretty much upgrade itself every time you discover a new place. If you want to level this as a priority, just remove every cloud of the map and discover every point of interest.
- Hound master: Use Mutt every chance you get, that’s pretty much it.
FAQ
Do I need to level up fast in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 ?
No, not really. We know a lot of people love to level fast, to get a new shiny weapon, to sell at better prices, or just to steam roll the game, but if you play enough, if you don’t just rush the main quest and live it the world, your skills will level up organically.
What’s the best skill to level up first ?
I would go for Strength / Vitality / Main level by walking around with 800 pounds in your bags if you want to fight a lot, Stealth / Agility / Thievery if you want to sneak around, and then Speech, a lot of speech.
Is leveling up that effective ?
Yes. You can pretty much out scale the game and not bother about the combat mechanics once you’re high level enough.
