In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, your choices will impact how the game plays out and what your story will be (to a certain extent). One of the earlier choices is to either help the Miller or the Blacksmith in your search for a ticket to Semine’s Wedding. Both are good choices, but is there a better one ?

Miller or Blacksmith, who to choose in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Once you’ve finished the game’s introduction, getting attacked, saved, attacked, saved and then kicked out of Trosky, Hans Capon and yourself, Henry of Skaltiz, will discuss around a table in Troskowitz’s Inn. While asking questions to the locals, you will find people that could become your friends - if you choose to help them : the Miller from Semine, or the Blacksmith from Tachov. After another incident, you and Hans Capon go on different ways and you find yourself at a crossroad. Should you help the Miller or the Blacksmith?
Before we start, you should know that there is no wrong choices in KCD2. You build your own story, and even making choices with bad consequences could lead to interesting, fascinating or even hilarious outcomes. Relax, and go as you feel. Plus, even though some choices can change details about the story of KCD2, this isn’t a big moment in the story of the game, so it won’t affect the next step that much. And you can do both quests no matter what you choose in the first place, even hours after leaving the first region. So don’t worry: it’s not that important.
But if you really want to know what’s the best choice, here’s the short answer: the Blacksmith is the better choice all around.
Why choose the Blacksmith in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 ?
The Blacksmith is the best choice for a handful of reason:
- Regarding gameplay, the place you will go is in a more central point on the map. You will get your own bed and chest in a very well located town, and it will be easy to come rest or leave extra stuff in this chest. The Miller’s house is south of semine, a bit on the edge of the map: it’s not as useful.
- It’s also the introduction to Blacksmithing, a new addition to KCD2. This a very important part of the game as it’s the only way to get the best weapons in the game. And, if you want your Henry to be a fighter, the quests he will asks you will help you gain a few points that could help.
- It also has more secondary quests in proximity, making it easier to discover more things about the game.
- Regarding roleplay & story, it feels more natural as Henry is a blacksmith, and son of a blacksmith. It also connects very well to the Semine’s Wedding storyline and feels like a natural progression.
For all those reasons, I think the Blacksmith is the better option. If needed, you can check our guide on the best way to leveling up your skills, like craftmanship! But, there are a few arguments for helping the Miller.
Why choose the Miller in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 ?
The Miller can be a good choice too, mainly for gameplay reasons. The Quests you will do with the Miller are great and fun, pretty light-hearted which feels nice in this kind of game. But those quests will really help you with your early thievery, unarmed, stealth and alchemy points. If you want to make a stealth build and play like a thief or an assassin, the Miller will be the best option just because of those questlines and all the easy experience points you can get. We have a few guides on stealth and lock picking if want to know more about those skills for your stealth build, or where to find all potion recipes for Alchemy.
If possible, do both questlines. They are both worth it.
FAQ
Is choosing the Miller / Blacksmith a definitive choice?
No. If you go very far in the Blacksmith’s quest, you will most likely not play the Miller’s one before some time, but you can do both.
Which one is the funniest?
The Miller is funnier in my opinion, the quest is a bit goofy.
Can I wait after Semine’s wedding to do one of the quests?
Yes, I personally did the Miller questline way after getting in Kuttenberg.
