Monster Hunter Wilds offers an innovative way to change how you look without affecting your stats, and that’s possible thanks to Layered Armor. Layered Armor is the game's transmog system which allows you to customize the look of a given armor piece while keeping the original stats of the item intact.

A lot of players want to know how to unlock and equip Layered Armor in Monster Hunter Wilds, so let’s cover all the steps.

Unlocking Layered Armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

When it comes to the Monster Hunter Wilds Layered Armor unlock, you should know that this process takes time. Usually, you will need to upgrade a given item to its High Rank version. Once you do that, the game will allow you to unlock a Layered Armored version for that specific piece of upgraded equipment.

Creating the High Rank Armor will require defeating specific Monster Hunter Wilds monsters while playing. The monsters need to have a High Rank which means you will only find them when you have completed the main questline.

The good news is that people with the Premium Deluxe and Deluxe Editions do not need to go through these extra steps. Those who have purchased these MH Wilds versions can access specific Layered Armor as soon as they start playing.

Equipping Layered Armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

After getting the Monster Hunter Wilds Layered Armor sets, the next step is to equip them. This requires you to follow a few specific steps:

  • Go to a tent and choose “Appearance Menu”.
  • Choose the “Equipment Appearance” option and decide which piece of armor you want to change.
  • Once done, MH Wilds will give you a list of the different Layered Armor that you’ve unlocked so far.
  • Lastly, you just select the option you want.

Assuming you have done everything, the character will have the Layered Armor on. Simply follow the same steps again once you unlock a new Layered Armor and decide to equip it.
