The Assassins Outpost quest chain is an optional Naoe questline in Assassin's Creed Shadows. While optional, we suspect it will be one many fans of the series want to do.
As you progress in Assassin's Creed Shadows, the story of the order of assassins starts to become clear. We won't go into here, though if you are reading this, you probably know already.
The quest chain explores the stories of the order of assassins in AC Shadows, and how Naoe is involved. The group are known as the Kakushiba ikki, or League of the Hidden Blade. In the modern period (of the game) they are known as the Osaka Brotherhood.
Assassins Outpost Requirements
Before we start, let's get some tips out of the way first. To complete the quest chain, you need to do the following:
- Complete the Secrets of the Blade quest
- Quest requires Naoe to progress, but you can use Yasuke for parts
- You will need to complete all four locations to advance to the quest
- The quest is located on Naoe's board in the quest panel, under the Assassin tag
- Each quest in the chain rewards 3000 XP
- You should be level 30+ to complete these quests
- The Clifftop Yamabushi Quest can be completed in the final part; however, the quest requires level 40+ to be completed easily. Though we have included a way to cheese it below
Iga Assassin Outpost Location
1 - The Outpost is located in the south of Iga, near the border of Iga and Yamato.
2 - Here is a close-up of the location. You can run directly to the endpoint, however, it's always advised to do the Path of Shadow activity
3 - The final location. A shield embossed with the Assassin's Creed emblem hints at the purpose of these locations. Make sure to click the note to complete this location.
Yamato Assassin Outpost Location
1 - Another nice location here, this one is easy to get to if you leave from your Hideout.
2 -Again, the local Path of Secrets is the ideal path the game wishes you to use to reach the end location.
3 - Unlike other Paths on this quest, this one actually drops you off a little before the end location. Just travel up the path to the right in the image above to get to the Outpost.
4 - Another Outpost, another note that adds to the mystery around this order.
Omi Assassin Outpost Location
1 - This one is a little out of the way, though anyone who used our Cat Island Guide will have a nice local fast travel spot.
2 - Once again, we can use the Path of the Blade to travel up to the correct location.
3 - Here, we are greeted with the shield and another note.
Kii Assassin Outpost Location
1 - If done in order, Kii will likely be the last of these. This one is also quite out of the way. However, if you used our Happy Place trophy guide to get to the game's highest peak, you should have a few close locations.
2 -This is a much longer trip, with the Path of the Chosen being the longest of the trials so far. It also doubles up as a part of the Yamabushi Imposters quest, as you can see in our quest log in the image below.
3 - Here is the final Assassin Outpost. The note doesn't reveal much, though it does cause Naoe to add a few words of her own about keeping the creed alive.
The Clifftop Yamabushi Quest
If you've been working on the Yamabushi Imposters quest, you'll also get the chance to do that while on the peak. You can see the final shot of him above, but you'll know you're on the right path early on, as bodies litter the path towards the top of the peak.
Pro tip: This quest is a great way when playing as Yasuke to also get the "This is Japan, Actually" Trophy/Achievement, which requires you to kick an enemy off a high point. If you kick him just to the left of the chest, he will die from the fall.
FAQ
Does the Order you Tackle the Outposts Matter?
No, you can tackle them in any order. We found that the left of the cave to the right cave felt the most obvious, as shown above.
Is this the end of the Assassin Naoe Story
As far as we can tell, yes, though we will update this post if we discover more information
Can Yasuke be Used for Naoe's Story Quests
The game won't stop you from changing, though Naoe's abilities make her required for many of the parts. In the section above, where we had to kill the Yamabushi, we actually swapped to Yasuke for his superior combat ability.
