Assassin’s Creed Shadows Store Launch Items: What Are They and Are They Worth It?

Written by Joanna - 22nd March 2025

Assassin’s Creed Shadows follows in the footsteps of previous AC titles by offering players a selection of in-game store items; available to purchase from launch. These launch items range from cosmetic mounts, ally outfits, and Hideout décor to functional legendary armor, weapons, and utilities - such as the Map Pack - that will assist players during general gameplay.

While there is a reasonable choice of attractive launch items available to players, they will of course require microtransactions – which leads to the key question: Are the store launch items worth it?

In this article, we’ll breakdown the store items available to purchase from launch – in particular the Map Pack, which could be advantageous for those eager players, looking to 100% Complete the game.

What Are the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Store Launch Items?

There are several categories of items displayed in the store, but these can be split into either Functional (items that will boost gameplay and provide an in-game advantage) or Cosmetic (items that are purely for visual appeal, they offer no in-game advantage).

Functional Items

When it comes to the Functional items available from launch, there’s plenty of choice for players. Displaying unique styles, while also providing beneficial stat/ability boosts and perks that some players may find appealing, the weapons and armor gear packs deliver on both in-game advantage and visual flair.

In addition, players can purchase certain items from Utilities to get an immediate boost of currency or materials to use for in-game requirements; or the Map Pack, which reveals all activities on the map – making the Map Pack a consideration for players aiming to reach 100% completion, who’d rather do so in a more relaxed style without the pressure to spend hours exploring.

Map Pack Key Info

Players can either purchase the Maps as a bundle or individually within the store. The table below outlines the different maps available, what they unlock, and their cost.

Item name Item Description Cost Per Item
Map Pack Bundle A bundle of all 4 map options: Reveals the locations of all activities and hidden chests 1,000 Helix Credits
Yasuke Activities Map Reveals the location of all Kata and Horse Archery spots (Yasuke specific activities) 300 Helix Credits

Hidden Chests Map Reveals the location of all Hidden Chests (contain legendary gear) 300 Helix Credits
Naoe Activities Map Reveals the location of all Hidden Trails and Kuji-kiri spots (Naoe specific activities) 300 Helix Credits

Note: To buy the maps individually, players must select ‘Access Category’ while in the Utilities tab (Tab ↹ on PC, Y on Xbox, Triangle △ on PS5). This will open up all Utilities items available on the store.

Players can also purchase gear items from the Weapons, Yasuke, Naoe and Dual packs separately or as part of smaller gear sets.

Cosmetic Items

There are several cosmetic-only items that can be purchased on the store; while these don’t offer any stat or ability boosts, they offer an element of customisation beyond that in the base game itself.

Overview of Cosmetic Item Packs and Bundles

The table below breaks down the different Cosmetic packs, what they include and the Helix Credits cost at launch.

Item Type Item Contents Cost Per Item
Mounts Packs consisting of 1 Mount 950 Helix Credits
Allies Packs consisting of 6 group outfits for Allies 500 Helix Credits
Hideout Packs consisting of 4 decorative items for Hideout 600-1000 Helix Credits

Note: Hideout items can be purchased separately and Mounts are also included in Yasuke, Naoe and Dual packs.

Are the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Store Items Worth It?

Ultimately, the answer to this question will come down to the individual player and what they want from the game. For players that enjoy customisation, the Cosmetic items will provide an enjoyable way to personalise their gameplay. Whereas, for players looking for in-game advantages, the legendary gear and items in Utilities will help with faster progression and easier exploration; the Map Pack in particular will certainly tempt players.

It is worth remembering though, that these purchases are entirely optional and while some do impact gameplay positively, they are not needed to enjoy the game itself and achieve 100%. There will be plenty of opportunities for players to find legendary gear or customise their items using Transmog, the store items are not a necessity but rather an optional luxury.
