Written by Geekmandem - 22nd March 2025

Oni-Yuri is one of the allies you can recruit in Assassin's Creed Shadows, and doing so will unlock The Toxin Master Trophy while you're at it.

Oni-Yuri is one of the secret allies you can unlock, and her trophy is also hidden. You can unlock her after Act 2, and her quest chain is one of the more interesting parts of the game.

To learn where she is, and how to get her, follow our steps below.

How to Recruit Oni-Yuri

First up, we need to be in Act 2, which starts once you've unlocked Yasuke. That said, she's in Wakasa, one of the game's highest-level areas, making the quest best done once you get to or near level 30. But, let's assume you are and crack on.

Once you arrive at the Sotomo Gate, just north of Tsuruga Castle, you'll find Oni-Yuri having a confrontation with a group of men. Speaking to her will begin the quest Sweet Lies. The choices here are not massively important, but generally, Naoe is the person to go with as she is more sympathetic towards Oni-Yuri.

Pro tip: The choices you pick will determine who you play as in the quests

Next up, you'll need to do something for Oni-Yuri, in the form of her taking her, well, Sweet Revenge. You'll find her in a confrontation with a Samurai, who is not looking so good. Help Oni-Yuri, and then talk to her.

Now, once again, it's best to follow the Naoe path here, as Yasuke is not a huge fan of Oni-Yuri. Choosing the Naoe option will let you add Oni-Yuri as an ally, unlocking her abilities in the process.

Oni-Yuro Abilities

Oni-yuri is ideal for those looking to reduce the number of enemies in play at once. Her active ability can put someone to sleep, while her passive ability makes her great if you are dealing with multiple enemies. Her key ability, however, is Poison the Rations, which delays the reinforcements that enemies can deploy on the battlefield. However, this is only useful if you fight in castles.

Pro tip: You can upgrade your allies at a Dojo, with level 3 being required for the Veteran rank.

Rank Ability Description
Novice Sleep Dart Active - Oni-yuri puts someone to sleep.
Initiate Increased Dosage Passive - Releases a toxin cloud that envenoms people.
Veteran Poison the Rations Passive - Reinforcements are delayed in the event of an alert.
