It was announced today that Gfinity has secured a second broadcaster for it's groundbreaking UK-based Elite Series. BT Sport will be broadcasting the Elite Series Rocket League, Street Fighter V, and CS:GO matches both online and on it's paid television channels to a UK audience.
This news comes on the heels of last week's history making announcement that BBCThree would be broadcasting Elite Series S01 every weekend. In the past, large events such as Blizzard Entertainment's Heroes of the Dorm have been featured on network television, but this marked the first time a network signed on to show multiple weeks of an ongoing series, live.
"This fantastic tie-up with Gfinity marks our latest move to support and engage with the passionate and extensive gaming community here in the UK. The popularity of competitive gaming is growing rapidly and we are excited to announce that the inaugural season of the Elite Series will be broadcast on BT Sport."
- Andy Haworth, BT’s managing director of content and strategy
BT Sport is available on the BT TV, Sky and Virgin Media television platforms in the UK. BBCThree coverage of the Elite Series is available on BBC Three's website or BBC iPlayer.
