Plunderstorm 2025 has a major change affecting where you start on the map, you can now select the location you want to drop. We have briefly broken how to select a location and some of our best drop locations and strategies to accompany them. Always keep in mind that the best drop locations will change depending if you are playing solo or duos, and how comfortable with the map and game mode.
One of the changes to Plunderstorm in 2025 was that non-elites respawn, which you should keep in mind when determining if someone has been at the location before, it also means that you have more opportunity to earn XP and Plunder even if you get to a location later.
Selecting a Drop Location
When in a Plunderstorm lobby you will have 3 buttons at the top of your screen, the larger button in the middle will open the map and show you the 12 selections you can choose from. These are divided into 3 different colours representing mob density: red areas have the highest, yellow with medium density and green has the lowest.
To select a zone you simply click on the one you want, then click confirm location. Alternatively, you can have your drop location randomly selected.
Best Locations to Drop
In the Image below we have numbered each of the selectable drop locations, we have then chosen some of the locations that have worked the best for us. It should be said that there aren't really many bad places to drop, a lot of it comes down to how many people ultimately drop in that same location and how quickly you are able to farm XP and Plunder from that place.
The locations on the map below have been numbered purely for referencing them and not in the order of how good they are.
Beginner Drop Locations
These drop locations are where we recommend if you are less comfortable with Plunderstorm and the map. Once you build up some familiarity with the map and each of the locations, you will likely find some locations that you prefer and can get quite efficient with early farming.
Number 6 and flying down to the cove in the bottom left has a large amount of rares and chests, while generally being uncontested as it's less obvious that this is a location you can get to on the map. Just be aware that the storm will quickly consume this area, so you want to clear it out and move out of the cove once the storm starts to move.
Drop location 10 and landing in the north part of hammerfall. This area contains a lot of rares and has lots of directions you can move in such as moving towards Witherbark (12) or across to the Farmsteads (7 or 8).
Dropping on location 4 and aiming for the elementals near the tower can be a great way to start gaining power quickly. Make sure to kill the rare at the top of the tower, also be a little wary of the elementals abilities as they can be difficult to dodge and you may take additional damage. You are also slightly more central, so be aware of your surroundings for other players that are rotating into that zone.
Advanced Location
These drop locations are where we recommend if you are more comfortable with Plunderstorm and the map. These are usually a lot more contested areas but can pay off with a lot of early levels.
Choosing location 3 and dropping near the tower towards the back of Stargarde Keep. There are a lot of rares around the keep and they are fairly easy to deal with, keep in mind that this area is usually contested so make sure you are ready for a fight.
Dropping at the very north of drop location 1, near the mine entrance, can potentially net you a lot of experience from the get go, as you can quite consistently hit an elite and a few normal mobs with the parrot. However, if someone beats you to this spot it can be hard to recover especially if others landed around Ar’goruk.
Drop location 7 can be easily farmed due to the high elite density on the Dabryie’s Farmstead, you can then jump on the horse mount in the south west corner and quickly go to a new area to farm or to pick a fight depending on how strong you feel.
Again, there are no perfect drop locations, but we wanted to highlight some of our own preferred drop locations to help you get started and hopefully maximize your Plunder acquisition. If you are looking for how to spend your Plunder we have a list of all Plunderstorm rewards.
