The Tome of Light’s Devotion is one of the most popular and strongest tank trinkets, dropping from Priory of the Sacred Flame. At first glance this trinket seems a little confusing and underwhelming, utilising it can take some planning and knowledge.
How the Tome of Light’s Devotion Works
The Tome of Light's Devotion will grant you one of two buffs while it is equipped: Inner Resilience or Inner Radiance.
- The Inner Resilience buff grants you Armor and a chance for your attacks to grant you a magic damage shield.
- The Inner Radiance buff grants you increased Critical Strike Chance and a chance to deal holy damage when attacking.
When you take damage you gain stacks of either Inner Resilience or Inner Radiance depending which version you are currently in. The stacks have no impact on the strength of the buffs and work more as a timer. When you reach 50 stacks, you will swap to the other buff. These stacks will persist outside of combat, but do seem to reset on death.
The final part of the trinket is the use effect. This does not count as a normal use effect, meaning you can use another use trinket without putting it on a short cooldown. When used, the trinket will swap to the other buff it is not currently on, and double its effect.
How to best utilise the Tome of Light’s Devotion
In general, the Inner Radiance buff is much more powerful than the Inner Resilience buff, so the main goal is to maintain the Radiance buff as much as possible. This is done by always using the trinket when you have the Inner Resilience buff so you will swap to and buff Inner Radiance.
In raid content you will always want to start the fight in the Inner Resilience version of the trinket, so you can instantly activate the trinket and switch to the increased Inner Radiance buff. This can be easily done by removing then equipping the trinket again.
We recommend tracking the stacks of both buffs so that you always use it when you have the Inner Resilience version of the buff.
We hope this guide helped you better understand how the Tome of Light’s Devotion works, and how to properly utilise this very strong tank trinket.
