With The War Within expansion, Blizzard introduced the Warband system. In Patch 11.1, Undermined, we have some new Warband features available to use; Groups, which will will make navigation of the character select screen a little easier, and Warband Campsite Backgrounds being a nice cosmetic feature.
Warband Groups
Warband groups will let you have multiple Warbands (sets of up to 4 characters). You can create up to 20 different groups and have a maximum of 4 characters in each. To create a new Warband group, select the plus icon in the right hand corner, you will then be prompted to name the group. Once you accept, you will then have 2 collapsible groups and can click and drag characters between each. This could be useful to organise your characters by role or which professions they have.

Warband Campsite Backgrounds
The second feature is Warband Backgrounds or Campsites. This is a really nice cosmetic feature that lets you choose which background you want for your Warband, this can be set individually for each Warband group or assigned to all Warband groups. To choose which Campsite you would like to use, simply click on the Campsite in the top menu bar and a pop up will let you choose which one you would like to select.
You initially have 2 options which are the Adventurer’s Rest, which is the original Warband screen, and Ohn’ahran Overlook, which is a scene from Ohn’ahran Plains from Dragonflight. You can also favourite ones by right clicking on one of them.
How to Unlock Warband Campsite Backgrounds
There are currently 3 additional background unlocks for the Campsites, which we have listed below, including how to unlock them:
- Cultist’s Quay is purchased from Reno Jackson in Dornogal for undercoins, you will need to progress the Season 2 Delvers Journey to purchase it.
- Freywold Spring is a reward from the All That Khaz achievement. This achievement is a meta achievement requiring you to do all of the quests, reputations and exploration achievements for the original four zones of The War Within.
- Galligo Grand Gallery is a reward from the Going Goblin Mode achievement. This achievement is a meta achievement requiring you to explore the new Undermine zone, collect its treasures and kill its rares.
The new warband features look to be a nice introduction to help organise characters and add a bit of personality to our character select screens. If you are looking for more Undermine Content make sure to check out our other Season 2 WoW Guides.
