Radiant Echoes is the pre-patch event for the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, The War Within. This event felt very nostalgic when we tested it, we revisited iconic moments and characters from the game's history and it took us to zones we haven’t been to for quite some time.
During the pre-patch event, you will complete activities in a few specific zones, with the active zone rotating every 30-90 minutes, participating will earn you currency and let you purchase a variety of rewards.
All players from level 10 to 70 can participate in this event. Regardless of whether they own The War Within expansion, they will be able to take part in the event for its duration.
We will break down the key details you need to know, including when the event is active, how to participate in the event and the rewards available.
Event Release Date and Duration
The Radiant Echoes event will take place from July 30th to August 26th. With The War Within expansion going live on August 26th (Aug 22nd for early access) the event will last for approximately 4 weeks.
During this period, players will have the opportunity to engage in various activities and challenges across different zones. As the pre-patch event progresses, there will be the ability to catch up if you can’t participate in it straight away, with the event cycling quicker each week, eventually being every 30 minutes in the final weeks.

We think that this increasing frequency will help you to still get everything you want from the pre-patch event, even if you can’t participate from the very beginning or for the full duration that the event is active.
Event Locations
The main city for the Radiant Echoes pre-patch event is Dalaran (Legion version).
The event is structured in a way that cycles through different zones, during which time you need to complete a number of activities to earn rewards.
The specific event activities will take place in:
- Dragonblight
- Dustwallow Marsh
- Searing Gorge
These locations provide a reason for players to experience some areas of Azeroth that have recently been unvisited by many players.
Radiant Echoes Event Portals
Portals in Dalaran will be available to take players directly to the pre-patch event staging areas, and return portals will be present in each event zone.
These portals will have an additional text above to indicate the remaining time left on the event in a particular zone.
These portals are located next to the main rewards vendor (Remembrancer Amuul), the portals can be accessed by taking the teleport ring in the center of Dalaran (Legion version), located in the most central building in the middle of Dalaran.
Currency & Rewards
The event features a unique currency called Residual Memories.
Players will collect this currency by participating in the different zone events, and it can be used to purchase various rewards, a list of which can be found on our Residual Memories Rewards guide.
In addition to Residual Memories, the event bosses during Stage 3 of the active event have a chance to drop gear.
Getting Started
Players who have reached level 70 will receive a quest that directs them to visit Dalaran to begin the event. This quest acts as the starting point, guiding players to Dalaran where they can access the event portals and the vendor Remembrancer Amuul.
Event Stages
The event has four distinct stages, each with specific objectives and challenges.
Stage 1: Congealed Memories
In the first stage, players are tasked to defeat Congealed Memories that appear in the zone. The Congealed Memories are accompanied by additional mobs that players must also eliminate.
Stage 2: Radiant Echoes
The second stage involves completing six random events active within the zone, which are found on the map marked by a globe. These events vary in nature and often include previous aspects of the game from past expansions.
Stage 3: Event Bosses
In the third stage, players will be given a quest to defeat the active zone’s respective event boss. Each zone features a different boss:
- In Dragonblight, you will defeat the Remembered Lich King.
- In Dustwallow Marsh, you will defeat Remembered Onyxia.
- In Searing Gorge, you will defeat the Remembered Firelord.
Upon completion of this quest, you will be rewarded with 1,500 Residual Memories.
Once a boss is defeated by players, Stage 4 begins, and the boss will no longer be available until the event cycles back to that zone.
Stage 4: Lingering Memories
During the fourth and final stage, the event has essentially finished. You can choose to go back to Dalaran or stay in the zone to slay lingering memories.
A timer within the zone will count down to the next zone event, ensuring that players are aware of when and where the next stage will begin. This stage provides an opportunity for additional farming of Residual Memories before the next event zone is active.
