Tier List Disclaimers
This tier list will be attempting to rank the strength of each spec when it comes to Raiding content from an output perspective. Keep in mind this does not factor in player skill and can change quickly with both nerfs to the raid as well as class tuning.
Although this tier list was written with Mythic in mind, the tier list ranking still applies to the other difficulties of the Nerub’ar Palace Raid.
Keep in mind that some of the specs rankings could be impacted by having an appropriate split of ranged and melee. They either make the fight easier or could be required for specific mechanics.
The tier list is ranked by role (Tanks > Healers > Melee > Ranged) and thus we are not ranking specs outside of their respective roles.
On top of this, it’s always very important to remember that every single spec in the game is more than capable of clearing the raid, so don’t feel forced to play a spec you don’t enjoy just because of a tier list. Bringing the best player almost always trumps bringing a more “meta” spec outside of having your raid buffs covered, as an individual’s skill can close the gap between different specs.
Spec Rankings Explained
In terms of how the specs were ranked, here is the criteria used for each tier.
S Tier - Reserved for the specs with the highest throughput that also bring with them tools unique to their spec or class which is extremely impactful in this season’s raid. All or most of these specs were present in the race to world first compositions.
A Tier - Specs that have extremely high throughput but are slightly behind the S tier specs when it comes to either damage, durability, or utility. Most of these specs were present in the race to world first compositions.
B Tier - More niche specs that are powerful when used in the right hands, but tend to be lacking in at least one category relative to specs higher up in the list. Some of these specs were present in the race to world first compositions.
C Tier - In the final tier we have specs that are below average when it comes to throughput, and often are being outperformed by other specs of the same class that bring the same or better utility, defensiveness, or damage. These specs were rarely present in the race to world first compositions.

Special Notes:
- Restoration Druid is considered S tier at this point into the patch due to the buffs and its success with one minute timers and high DPS-numbers.
- Affliction Warlock is considered to be S-tier for Silken Court.
- Feral Druid is in a good position in this tier, bringing high throughput makes them a decent contender to represent the druid buff in the raid.
- Elemental Shaman and Survival Hunter are at a really good spot within the game at the moment but tend to be overshadowed by their melee and ranged counterparts.
- Augmentation Evoker doesn’t bring a lot of throughput on their own, but when they buff the right people in the raid they can contribute a lot. Also, they have a lot of utility that’s proven to be useful throughout the entire raid.
- Vengeance Demon Hunter and Protection Warrior are quite low down the list, that being said, the tanks are all quite close to each other in terms of balancing. Both of them have their place in the raid with sigils and spell reflect being quite handy on some bosses.
