With 2020 now behind us and with the first raid tier of Shadowlands now over, it has given me a moment to reflect on just how intense and difficult 2020 has been, and not only for myself or Method (and the guild with 450+ pulls on Stone Legion Generals...), but for the whole community.
Together, we have persevered through a global pandemic and continue to do so, and even though under normal circumstances I would have spent most of this time behind my computer, it’s different when you’re in lockdown, isolated from your family, friends, and the people you care about. There have been no gaming events to break up the day-to-day and no opportunities to meet the people you spend so much of your time online with - the meeting in real life is what I have always enjoyed most about gaming. Christmas and New Year celebrations were also very different this year for many, myself included. It's at times like these you need the strength of the community and why I am so grateful for the community’s support.
In 2020 you were here when I needed you the most and that’s why it’s important I’m here for you.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again because that is what true accountability demands. 2020 has shown that I have made mistakes. Mistakes that jeopardised your trust in me and Method, and it is this trust that myself and the Method team will work to rebuild every day.
But I have also learned from my mistakes and commit to enact change and strive for better with every opportunity. I want to show the community how much Method has changed over the last six months and how that change will continue to shape the actions we take in 2021 and beyond.
Everyone at Method knows that we wouldn’t have ended the year with such positive momentum without all of you. So, before I go any further, I just want to say thank you for believing in us and allowing all of this to be possible.
When we announced Method’s rebuild in October, we also announced the Road to World First project. We are as committed as ever to building out the Method guild over the Shadowlands expansion to compete for World First again. I am incredibly proud of the effort the guild put in this tier. Finishing 7th exceeded expectations and it is more than I could have hoped for when I was reading through community applications and speaking with Reason’s officer team only a couple of months ago.
Over half of the guild came directly from community applications, which is why we’ll continue to look to the community to strengthen the raid team further in 2021. We have a lot more time to prepare before tier 2 and will be working hard as a team, so if you want to be a part of Method’s next chapter then recruitment is open.
We want to serve as many MMO & RPG communities as we can, championing players within these genres while helping push them to the forefront of gaming. We have a responsibility to deliver the best possible content and experience in every community that we enter into. Which is why we’re so excited about the opportunities in OSRS. We’re proud to have SickNerd, Gingerbeardie, Westham, PureSpam, Dino_xx, Coxie, Lake, Puggin, PoisonedPotion and Synq be the first OSRS streamers to join Method and look forward to welcoming many more. In 2021, we’re keen on reinvigorating the PvP scene and rolling out exciting tournaments & events while creating educational and community-focused content in partnership with our OSRS streamers.
2020 ushered in a new beginning for Method. Now 70 total staff, players, and creators are wearing Method’s colours, alongside a Community Team of 2,300+ members strong as we continue to grow.
Thank you all for joining myself and the team here at Method on this journey in 2020. I am personally committed to making 2021 the year we rebuild Method into the organisation the community deserves.
