How the Unbound Changeling Trinket Works in The War Within

Written by Tom - 14th September 2024

Have you just obtained the Unbound Changeling trinket from Mists of Tirna Scithe and are you wondering how the trinket works? In this article we will be giving an overview of what the trinket does, and how to change the stat proc on it.

The Unbound Changeling trinket was first introduced to players in the Shadowlands expansion, and was considered one of the more powerful trinkets from that expansion. In The War Within Season 1, it will be returning with the Mists of Tirna Scithe dungeon.

The trinket is unique as the stat proc that it gives changes based on the corresponding food that the player has most recently eaten, and the player will keep that specific stat buff until they eat a different food. There are 4 different buffs that the trinket can give:

The final buff mentioned here (Critical Strike, Haste and Mastery) is quite rare and has a chance to appear once per day when a player gains any well fed buff.

Changing Stats on the Unbound Changeling

The trinket works exactly the same as it did in Shadowlands, but with the new The War Within foods instead. Below you will find a table showing which foods will give each stat on the trinket.

Note: Ginger Glazed Fillet has no effect on the Changeling and other multi-stat foods with versatility on it seem to give the other stat on the food. Main stat food such as Sweet and Sour Meatballs also appear to have no effect on the Changeling either.

Food Buff Stat
Zesty Nibblers Haste
Fiery Fish Sticks Critical Strike
Salty Dog Mastery
Fish and Chips Critical Strike
Marinated Tenderloins Mastery
Sweet and Spicy Soup Haste
Chippy Tea Mastery or Haste
Deepfin Patty Haste or Critical Strike
Salt Baked Seafood Mastery or Critical Strike
Outsider's Provisions, Empress' Farewell or Jester's Board Highest Secondary Stat out of Haste, Critical Strike and Mastery
Everything Stew Lowest Secondary Stat out of Haste, Critical Strike and Mastery

How to Obtain the Unbound Changeling Trinket

The Unbound Changeling trinket drops from Ingra Maloch, the first boss of the Mists of Tirna Scithe dungeon. The trinket will be obtainable in both Heroic and Mythic difficulties of the dungeon as of 10th September for US servers and 11th September for EU servers, with Mythic+ difficulty being released 1 week later alongside the Mythic difficulty for the Nerub’ar Palace raid.

It is also worth noting that Mythic 0 difficulty is now on a daily lockout instead of weekly, so you will be able to farm the trinket on that difficulty more frequently than you could in the past.

We hope this article has helped you to understand how to get the most out of your Unbound Changeling trinket, helping you to take on the upcoming content for Season 1 and blast the meters.
