In The War Within Season 1, players will have access to the Matrix Catalyst. The Catalyst can be used to convert any season 1 items into their tier piece alternatives, however the only armor slots that will grant the tier set bonus are Head, Shoulder, Chest, Hands and Legs.
The Matrix Catalyst can also be used to convert non-tier bonus slots (Cloak, Wrist, Waist and Feet), in order to change the stats on the armor pieces. Players may wish to use the Catalyst to convert an item into a tier piece if it has better stats than are available from other gear sources, but it does use a catalyst charge so will not be a priority over getting your 4 set bonus first.
Players will receive 1 catalyst charge per week, so just keep this in mind when converting non-tier bonus slots.
