Stat Priorities

Stat Ranking

Offensively, your stat priority should always be determined by simulating your gear, since it will be more accurate than any human can be. It will likely want you to use a fairly balanced stat spread.

Defensively, stats follow the following priority:

  1. Agility (Item Level)
  2. Haste
  3. Critical Strike = Versatility
  4. Mastery

Stat Outline

Haste speeds up your global cooldown and reduces the cooldown of a few abilities like Fracture, Demon Spikes and Immolation Aura. It is a strong stat since it increases the flow of the core of Vengeance’s toolkit by letting you build and spend more Soul Fragments.

Critical strike increases the chance for your damage to deal twice the damage and parry enemy attacks. It offers very strong damage reduction, especially when combined with other Parry sources like Demon Spikes. It does not affect most of our healing since very few relevant healing sources can Crit for us.

Versatility is a simple amplifier to our damage, healing and damage reduction. The stat scales poorly compared to other stats due to higher rating requirements for each percent of Versatility. It is a well-rounded stat that scales every part of our kit, making it effective even though it is not very interesting.

Mastery increases your armor based on your agility, as well as increasing the power of Demon Spikes. Unfortunately, Mastery is currently tuned very poorly defensively for Vengeance.

Races

Demon Hunters can be Night Elf, Blood Elf and Void Elf. Currently, Night Elf offers slightly more value defensively with Haste instead of Critical Strike during the evening, as well as 2% passive dodge. Offensively, Void Elf will be ever so slightly stronger; however, the difference is fairly small and if you prefer Blood Elf, it will not be a massive difference in power.
