Post-launch Patches, Maintenance, Hotfixes & More
Naturally, following the launch of a major, complex title like Dune Awakening, the initial focus has been on post-launch patches for performance, maintenance and hotfixes.
The developers have been great at communicating with the player base and taking feedback on board, especially around end-game content in the Deep Desert.
Dune Awakening Roadmap - Upcoming Items
Upcoming Roadmap Items:
- Performance & Stability Fixes: Ongoing technical updates to improve load times, server stability, and crashes.
- Vehicles Update and Tank: New vehicle types, improved handling, and possibly vehicle naming improvements are on the way. Funcom is also working to clean up the inventory drop-down system to reduce confusion. As for the Tank, well, "Tanks will come a bit after launch," according to CM Iggy. We know they are coming as they have been seen in some early trailers/assets, but it's good to have them confirmed.
- Improved Inventory & Crafting UI: Streamlined systems to reduce item clutter and make gear progression clearer. No timeline on when, however, it was confirmed in the Q&A specifically for tactical, larger bases and inventory management. When asked on Discord, Community Manager Iggy had this to say on base signs: "We have plans... It just didn't make the cut by a little bit. They're coming in some way, shape, or form!"
- More Quests: "There are plans to add new contracts across the board. In addition, the Landsraad itself is supposed to involve more contracts in order to reveal tasks for the Houses."
- Guild Progression & Roles: Guild tools that go beyond just shared storage, including ranks, permissions, and objectives. These were first talked about by Funcom pre-release, but are yet to go live in-game.
- Content every 3/4 months: One thing noted in the Q&A was that Funcom plans to drop major updates/content each season, every three or four months.
- On "Raids": In the "message from the Creative Director", Funcom had this to say on PvE: "If we ever add raids to the game, there will be a task on the Landsraad to complete those raids. It is a framework that holds the endgame activities in place." In the AMA post-release, FuncomScott stated that "we won't have raids like you would see in an MMORPG, but we will continue to add more late game content for players of all types post launch."
Dune Awakening DLC
All currently announced DLC will be sold separately or will be available as part of the Dune Awakening Season Pass. 'Deluxe' or 'Ultimate' version owners will already have access to all of the announced DLCs discussed below:
Launch DLC: Wildlife of Arrakis
Description: Cosmetics - Decorate your base with statues of the prominent wildlife of Arrakis, including Shai-Hulud himself.
Release Date: Out now via Season Pass
This cosmetic expansion was immediately granted to those who purchased the 'Deluxe' or 'Ultimate' versions of the game.
DLC 1: Lost Harvest (October - December 2025)
Description: Side story and cosmetics - A stranded harvester. A desperate crew. A secret that has been buried for over ten thousand years.
Release Date: October - December 2025
Lost Harvest is the first major DLC planned for Dune Awakening. It centres on a stranded spice harvester and the desperate crew that remains. As you explore the wreckage, you’ll uncover a secret buried for over ten thousand years. This story will appear on the overworld map like some end-game quests do, like A Sign From Above.
This DLC will include
- An additional narrative side arc with voiced NPCs;
- Environmental storytelling and unique exploration zones; and
- Cosmetic items are tied to the harvester crew and their legacy.
There’s no new region or faction here, but the story hints at deeper ties to the ancient past of Arrakis.
DLC 2: Raiders of the Broken Lands (January - March 2026)
Description: Cosmetics - The broken lands are shattered plains of broken rock, known for their fearsome raiders.
Release date: January - March 2026
The Broken Lands are jagged plains torn apart by tectonic activity. Known for their isolation and lawlessness, they’re home to the most ruthless raiders on Arrakis.
This expansion focuses on the raider aesthetic and introduces a full cosmetic set:
- Raider armour and weapon skins;
- Vehicle paints and flags themed around desert clans; and
- Emotes and animations inspired by Raider culture.
We only have information about cosmetics for this DLC so far.
DLC 3: The Water Wars (April - June 2026)
Description: Water is life - The Water Shipper families are at war, fighting for control of the Polar Caps of Arrakis.
Release Date: April - June 2026
Water is life, and in The Water Wars, the stakes are higher than ever. The Water Shipper families have entered open conflict, fighting for control of the Polar Caps of Arrakis. This is the first major bit of content that is coming to Dune Awakening. The focus here is on PvP, though given recent changes to the Deep Desert, this might change.
This may be considered the first 'expansion' for Dune Awakening that adds full PvP-driven content:
- A new northern region focused on the Polar Caps;
- Guild-based water resource control and seasonal wars;
- New gear themed around water recovery and protection; and
- Special structures for defending and raiding water facilities.
This expansion is also expected to introduce a dynamic system for shifting control over the region, with seasonal resets tied to water supply.
That’s everything we know so far about the future of Dune: Awakening's future plans so far. More updates, patches, and expansions are on the way, and we’ll keep this page updated as new details come out.
