You've got your ship (the mighty Ketch) and you've received a quest to destroy three enemy ships but you can't seem to add cannons or upgrades to your ship without a Wharf, but where the heck is this Wharf? Read on and we'll explain all!
How To Unlock The Wharf in Windrose
The first thing you need to know is that you must construct the Wharf, so don't travel to Tortuga hoping to find one (we definitely didn't do that...). However, in order to build it you first have to unlock it by completing a few quests. These are:
- Rescuing The Crew (Main)
- I Need A Bigger Boat (Main)
I believe you also need to progress 'How My Sea Adventure Began' past the point where you are required to 'Craft 12-pounder cannons for your ship'
How To Build The Wharf In Windrose
To build the Wharf (once you have unlocked it), navigate to the Build menu (B) and you'll see it the Utilities Menu, beside the Fast Travel Bell.
Similar to the Fast Travel Bell, the Wharf has to be built along the coastline, near the water. The cost is:
- 10x Wood
- 10x Coarse Fabric
What You Can Do At The Wharf (How To Add Cannons To Your Ship)
The Wharf is actually an extremely important building as it not only allows you to kit out and upgrade your ship, but it also allows you to build new ships. To interact with the Wharf, jump up onto the platform and interact with the table (E). You'll see two menus:
- Ship Selection
- Shipyard
Ship Selection
Within the Ship Selection menu you will be able to interact with all of your existing ships, and for those ships which are docked nearby, you'll be able to kit them out. Just hit 'Manage Ship' when you have your ship selected and then you can drag and drop the ship upgrades (Cannons, Hull Bracing etc) onto the 'Ship Gear' slots.
You'll see another tab near 'Cargo and Gear' at the top left called 'Customization'. Here you can also change your ships sails, flags and name.
Shipyard
Returning to the main Wharf menu, if we go to the 'Shipyard' tab in the top left, you can see that this is the area where you can build new ships. You'll unlock a bunch of new ships as you progress throughout the game and increase your standing with the four Factions.
